Robin Morgan: Free Man

Just The Tonic at The Caves

Saturday 6th August, 20.00

8.25/10

Having missed Robin Morgan's show in the Welsh capital due to selfishly clashing with the important Wales v Belgium

football match in the European Championships I was keen to rectify that oversight in the Scottish capital.

I had seen him perform in Cardiff last year so I knew he was good and I had high hopes for his debut Edinburgh show.

Although we all seem to have missed the pun in his show title (think about it), the premise of his show was his recent

engagement proposal. You know course of true love will not run smooth (to paraphrase someone) and you suspect

there will be an upbeat ending or this will be a difficult show to perform for a month,

Robin Morgan is a very confident, likeable performer in complete control of his audience and material. It is hard to

sustain an hour of high-level comedy without sagging at any stage. Impressively, Robin never let the pace drop and

after 3 successive comedy shows when I can often get "all laughed out" I can honestly say this was the one I

enjoyed the most.

Recommended.
