 Frankie VAH by Luke Wright

Full review to follow

Luke Wright's Poetry Party was probably the first show attended by the newly formed DarkChat in 2007 and we have watched him develop as a writer and performer over the years. His show in 2015 'What I learned frm Johnny Bevan' was astonishingly good (and is also being performed at Underbelly this year), so we went to see 'Frankie VAH'with high expectations.

The show follows the rise of a performance poet in the 1980s and, as we grew up in that decade, felt he effectively

reflects the feeling of that time - quite an achievement as the writer/performer is too young to have experienced this

himself.

Frankie dreams of being on the bill at a Left Wedge fund raiser and Luke Wright completely captures the style of John

Cooper-Clarke and his contemporaries when he performs as Frankie Vah, performance poet, within this intricate piece.

Whether you remember the '80s or not, 'Frankie Vah' is highly recommended.
