We have been aware of John Henry Falle since his days with The Beta Males and his first Edinburgh outing with
The Story Beast in 2015. We loved the show and were glad to see that it was returning to the Edinburgh Fringe
in 2 different guises this year.
We started with "This Is Bardcore" at the bold time of 22.40pm and boy are we glad we did. A largeish, drunkish
audience 1st spotted The Story Beast covered with leaves on stage before rising and transporting us to weird
and magical lands. We had a rough idea what to expect but this is still a unique character. Where else would you
sing a song about Jam, listen to a lengthy rhyming couplet about one of the most loved action movies of all time
and get to learn about the history of the world within a 24 hour time-frame.
The Story Beast is a genius creation and John Henry Falle is one of the best current stage performers around.
Don't miss the adult or the children's version (see our review for Myths, Monsters and Mayhem on Tuesday).
The Story Beast: This is Bardcore is at Underbelly, Cowgate until August 26th (not 13th)
