Dear David

In response to your email, I enjoyed a very successful season in Edinburgh this year. I presented my show during the last two-and-a-half weeks when a lot of the euphoria of the olympics had subsided. I believe business overall at The Fringe was down but to my pleasant surprise the bookings for my show overall were an increase on the previous year.

I saw some excellent shows and had some marvellous guests. The format of The Nicholas Parsons Happy Hour - stand-up comedy and chat - seems to work very well and I have already been booked to return next August. Again, at the Cabaret Bar at The Pleasance, same time 5.10pm and it will be for the first two-and-a-half weeks. I will also be recording two more editions of Just A Minute as well as guesting presumably on other shows and seeing plenty myself.

I hope this is the information you wanted.

Best wishes.

NICHOLAS

Hi David,

Edinburgh 2012

Went like a flash - one minute I was on a crowded train - then I was off it - at newcastle due to a track problem - then back on one - arriving in glorious sunshine while Edinburgh - one of my favourite cities in the world and cosmos, enjoyed a last shred of summer.

Dropped into the hotel, and head onto the streets for that blast of energy that you get at the Festival. Then to the venue - The Queen's Hall - always a favourite - superb piano, lovely technical staff - professional, so always a great sound.

The audience arrived and the gig was a joy - one night only - lovely jubbly.

Sat drinking in the bar before heading out to a late night hostelry with actor friends who can drink fish out of water - then dawn called me to my bed. breakfast the nest morning at Dean and De Luca, glorious, with photographer and storyteller Habie Schwarz, then to my train and home again.

Edinburgh 2012. Went like a flash. A very lovely flash!

Thanks for that! We were a bit confused to tell you the truth! That makes a lot of sense now. I think for us the

highlights of Edinburgh were seeing so many companies who were just starting out- like us. It was amazing

meeting so many like-minded people and knowing you aren't alone in the theatre world. As my first professional

directing piece, is was incredibly nerve-wrecking and I sat in almost every performance until I learnt to step back

and trust the actors. For all of us, our first Edinburgh experience is one we won't forget. They always say you

should go up with a show and I'm so glad we took this one! Other highlights included sharing a house with 7

other people and taking in strays throughout the weeks! Flyering in the rain wearing flip-flops, we also swapped

flyers with the 'Rainbow' cast on the last day- flyering for someone else made it seem almost bearable! Eating

tesco £1 sushi as dinner almost everyday- mixed with a trip to the greenmantle once in a while. Seeing some

amazing shows and hardly any awful ones apparently we chose well. Having the tiny smelly mens toilets as our

dressing room- shared with about 8 other groups. Too many memories! Unfortunately we can't make the awards

ceremony in Wales but we would have loved to have been there. I hope it goes well and you have a great night.

Thank you! Amy and TrailBlaze On 21 October 2012 16:53, DAVID COX <davidandann1> wrote:

Dear Amy,

Ha, good spot.

Yes, what it referred to was one of our reviewers (Phil) was used in the play as a sort of 'clothes horse' to stop him

watching an actress undress, placing her clothes on his head as she went along. He hasn't quite been the same since.

On Saturday the awards will be revealed. As well as reliving our own favourite memories we like to hear performers

views of their Edinburgh. So feel free to drop me a line with any thoughts/ memories, (good, bad, indifferent) you have

(other shows seen,hated) etc.

Cheers

David
